What are HVLS fans?
Frequently asked questions about HVLS fans(large industrial/commercial/PMSM fans) and air coolers with explanatory links.
Reasons Behind High Volume at Low Speed
Features of HVLS Fans
There are unique features of HVLS fans that enable them to serve a large area without any hassle. Let’s get into the details of their features.
Size of HVLS Fans
HVLS fans are quite large as compared to residential fans. The diameter of these fans can be in the range of 2.8m (8ft) to 7.3m (24ft). Now you can imagine how large these fans are. Due to their large size, they can even provide a high volume of air at a very low speed. You can choose the size of the fan according to the area where you want to install them.
HVLS fans can work in industrial and commercial places. The only difference is the size. Commercial fans are a little smaller than Industrial fans. RTFANS make commercial and industrial fans in a wide range of sizes. The size of RTFANS commercial fans ranges from 2.8m to 4m (8ft to 14ft). In contrast, the size of industrial fans ranges from 3.7m to 7.3m (12ft to 24ft). If you are not sure about the size, then you can contact us. We will tell you the right size according to the area.
The blades of HVLS fans are not like simple residential fans. They are made according to aerodynamic principles to offer a high airflow. They are called airfoil blades, having a special shape and design. These blades are made from special alloys to offer maximum durability. The number of blades is also an important matter. The airflow of the fan depends on the number of blades it has. They usually have 6 to 8 blades depending on the manufacturer.
RTFANS have contributed a lot to the betterment of the HVLS fans. Our research teams have tried a different number of blades to achieve maximum performance. Finally, they have reached to the conclusion and placed six blades in all fans.
We told you that HVLS fans run at a low speed as compared to residential fans. The speed of the fans ranges from 50-100 RPM depending on the size and type of the fan. They run at this speed but provide a high volume of air.
High Airflow of HVLS fans
The reason due to which HVLS fans are common is the high airflow. Due to high airflow, a single fan serves a large area up to 1800 square meters. This is the reason that a few HVLS fans can cover a large area. They have large blades with an aerodynamic design that pushes the air. The airflow of these fans ranges from 4,500 to 15,000 cubic meters per minute.
Due to this high airflow, HVLS fans can improve the air quality of the area. They can decrease the relative humidity and provide a cooling effect. The cooling effect makes people feel cooler up to 5-8˚C. This is also known as the chill effect. These fans can make the people in the area comfortable and fresh. Most importantly, the well-aligned breeze of the fan reaches every corner of the area that is impossible with wall-mounted and small ceiling fans.
